The 1 ½ hour twilight walking tour winds through the streets, parks, and cemeteries of the town made famous all over the world by Greenfield’s native son & poet laureate, James Whitcomb Riley. The tours will include no less than 10 stops on the route including intimate night time tours of the oldest jail in Central Indiana and the oldest church in Hancock County. Come along and learn what makes President Abraham Lincoln return to Greenfield every April and why the spirit of a lynched man haunts the woods near a popular Country Club. Who walks the courthouse cupola and what spirits remain in the old sheriff’s residence? Murder on the courthouse lawn and unquiet spirits in long forgotten graveyards, right in the heart of downtown Greenfield!
Are you ready for a ghastly good time? Take a lantern-led evening stroll down Greenfield’s shadowy lanes and discover the ghosts, ghouls, and legends of our haunted community. Walking through the town, one is surrounded by the memories of public hangings, untimely deaths, and horrific murders. As you pass over forgotten cemeteries and unmarked graves, you will encounter buildings known to be visited by those who have passed over to the other side! Unearthly visitors and mysterious specters await those brave enough to explore the secrets that lie in wait in Old Town's darkest corners. But don't stray too far from the group because you never know when you'll find yourself face to face with the unknown.
This is not the kind of ghost tour where actors portray the ghosts or people jump out and scare you. We tell the REAL stories of people's REAL experiences with REAL spirits.
